\nThe name comes from Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey and British Prime Minister in the 1830s; there are many stories about how he got the recipe, and none is certain. Bergamot is a citrus fruit that grows almost only on the Ionian coast of Calabria, between Reggio and Locri: 90% of the world’s production comes from there. It’s the peel that gets pressed, not the juice: you need about 200 kilos of fruit for one kilo of essential oil.<\/p>\n
